All the No points:

Surrogacy is a way to bring the happiness of parenthood to a couple who would otherwise not have bee…

Yes because…

Surrogacy is a way to bring the happiness of parenthood to a couple who would otherwise not have been able to enjoy it, either due to biological circumstances ( for example infertile or same-sex couples ), or the unavailability of a child for adoption. The joy of parenthood is something that every couple should be able to experience.

No because…

Contrary to the assumptions that underlie the proposition case, parenthood is not a fundamental human right. Besides, surrogacy is so controversial, and so traumatic for all concerned, that more conventional methods such as adoption should be used instead. Parents should not put their own desire to be parents over the possible damage it might cause to the baby.

There is no need for money payments to ever enter the equation. Even if commercialisation does occur…

Yes because…

There is no need for money payments to ever enter the equation. Even if commercialisation does occur, it would be controlled by strict laws and regulated by independent bodies, as is currently the case in the US. If standard charges were fixed there would simply be no room for a market to develop, thus ensuring that all had access to a surrogate if they wanted.

No because…

Surrogacy will eventually and inevitably become commercialised, with mothers ‘hiring out’ their wombs to the highest bidder. Even if charges are standardised, the high level of such a fee will still ena that the rich are more likely to benefit than the poor, as they are more likely to be able to afford the cost. No case of parenthood should simply be decided by financial factors.

However, surrogacy arrangements could easily be made non-financial by allowing a friend of the famil…

However, surrogacy arrangements could easily be made non-financial by allowing a friend of the family to be the surrogate, hence avoiding any legal wrangling after the birth, which can often happen when strangers are involved. It would also avoid the situation where a child has a stranger as their natural mother, which has been known to cause them problems.

No because…

This arrangement would in fact create more problems than it solved, as such an unofficial arrangement would be a legal nightmare if the surrogate decided ( as has often happened ) to keep the baby, as she would of course be the child’s legal mother. Important links are formed between mother and baby in the first nine months, and to forcibly sever these links would be devastating for all concerned. Also, it would be far more confusing and damaging for the child if their biological mother was someone who from an early age they had known as a friend of their ‘parents’.

Yes because…

On a practical note, no law against surrogacy could be enforced properly, but would merely lead to the physical impregnation of the surrogate by the would-be father, rather than a clean surgical procedure that avoided the emotional problems caused by an actual sexual act between the surrogate and the would-be father.

No because…

Even if there would be problems in enforcing a ban, we should still lay down the law; such an argument used against, say, growing cannabis at home would not invalidate a ban on drugs. Surrogacy is bad for both the mother and the child, and is beset by emotional problems for all concerned. Parents should not put their own interests above their child’s.

To be honest, it is still hard for me to decide is the Surrogate Motherhood good or bad? From the one side nowadays our planet is overpopulated so at the nearest future we will get huge problems with the resources and so on. But from the other side – it is really helpful for a lot of people! I mean in the XXI century a lot of couples have some fertility problem. Unfortunately, that it rue. But with the help of the surrogate mothers some couples could get their miracle child! One of my friends in infertile and I saw her suffering. But at once he came to me and said that soon she will be a mother! I can’t even imagine how happy she was! She told me that her husband found one Ukrainian Center for Human Reproduction. Moreover, the whole program in Kiev costs almost 30k Euros – not so expensive, I should say. The situation was a like a year ago and now she is a mommy of such a lovely girl! Of course, I think that this kid worth every minute of their expectation and their happiness costs more than 30k. But what will be in future? If all of us will use the help of the surrogate mommies?

Surrogacy is something you can never really understand or judge unless you are in that situation personally. It would be wonderful if surrogacy was never needed again because science found a solution for these women such as ectogenesis or readily available uterus transplant. No woman ever wants to have to use a surrogate,to have to hand over the miracle of her child & it’s pregnancy & birth to another woman. We do need a better solution but the world seems to turn it’s back on the infertile “The solution is too controversial so let’s ignore it.” Until someone decides to help these people in another way surrogacy is the only option & must be protected as no one has the right to deny someone the greatest gift in life because they have a medical condition. Legalize & enforce it or force science to find a better solution but taking away the only reproductive rights of thousands of people is not an option.

Surrogacy is a wonder of 21 century. Well, I can say for sure that US offer the most expensive medicine. I suffer infertility for long years. Many families can’t afford surrogacy service there. Last year I was in Ukraine and was shocked. People from America are ready to come there just to have a baby. Despite the fact, that it’s rather far from the US. I’m infertile and together with my husband we wanted to have children. We are pressed for money. So we couldn’t use surrogacy service in the US. We came to Ukraine as they offer the lowest price in Europe. In addition service is also very good. We chose their best reproduction center in the capital. They work in this sphere for long years. I’m sure they know all the secrets of successful pregnancies. And I do not regret. Their surrogate mother gave birth 3 months ago. Now we are parents of a wonderful daughter. I’m so grateful to them.

Surrogacy is okay as long as you know the person and they do not have any mental health issues or anything of that matter. I mean have you not watched Lifetime people, you have to do more in depth research about the person you may want to “carry your baby”. For all you know, that person could be a mentally deranged sociopath who is obsessed with you or your family. You have to do research and if you do not want to do that, then ask a friend that you have known for a while. NEVER just let anyone be your surrogate. PAY ATTENTION!
