SHOULD GERMAN NUDISTS BE ALLOWED TO HIKE IN SWITZERLAND?
Nude hiking has been banned in the canton of Appenzell in the Swiss Alps, and a 200 Swiss Franc fine imposed. The region is popular for the nudist hikers and the 15,500 locals are heavily affected during the rambling season. Were they right to ban the public indecency that affects their lives or is it just a symptom of the over-conservativeness of the area?
Should German nudists be allowed to hike in Switzerland?
Yes, because... a popular hiking destination
Appenzell is selected for the nudist hikers because of its many tracks off the beaten path. The Swiss Alps are a beautiful, picturesque region for any hiker. By being banned from the region, nudist hikers are missing out on this experience and the village is mising out on possible opportunities to profit from the tourism.
Should German nudists be allowed to hike in Switzerland?
Yes, because... not harming anyone
Nudism doesn't actually harm anyone. In fact, many nude hikers have reported benefits to their health. If the local police are tracking down and imposing fines upon nude hikers, they aren't concentrating on preventing more serious crimes that would affect the villagers' lives even worse.
Should German nudists be allowed to hike in Switzerland?
Yes, because... free body culture
Nude hiking is more than just a pastime, it is an expression of a cultural movement with roots in the 18th Century that says that naked bodies aren't something to be ashamed of. By banning nude hiking, they are repressing the right of the hikers to express their views.
Should German nudists be allowed to hike in Switzerland?
Yes, because... does it matter if they like to show there bits
is it bothering anyone no if they wanna get cold then fair enoguth
Should German nudists be allowed to hike in Switzerland?
No, because... public indecency
The locals of Appenzell feel genuinely humiliated and disgusted by what they see as immoral behaviour. Not everyone wants to see hundreds of naked people walking around, especially when they are old and out of shape, and it is very difficult to avoid viewing them every day when you live in a small village. Nudity in a public place is normally banned anyway.
Should German nudists be allowed to hike in Switzerland?
No, because... voters' right
The vote to ban the hikers was democratically passed. If the locals of a village don't want something happening in their village and it is clearly affecting their ability to function as a village, they have the right to ban it.
