BROKEN BRITAIN AND BROKEN THIRD WORLD: WHO'S REALLY TO BLAME?
So far in the news we hear alot about Broken Britain, and closely tied in are debates about the influx of immigrants from various countries slowly causing a socio-economic crisis. Some historians would argue that British imperialism is a major reason for developing countries lack of progress, and that continuing neo- imperialism isn't making things better. So what do you think, is Broken Britain really true or it is karma combined with an inevitable situation of going where the 'grass is greener'

Yes, because... Continuous dependence on foreign aid
Quite a few developing nations require foreign aid in every aspect. In most cases, this aid is tied to various economic conditions which put even more of a strain on these developing countries in the long run. It is a vicious rat race that ends with seeking better oppurtunities despite the costs. Longer hours working in a foreign country, no network of family support can be directly traced to the problems immigrants face in adapting. This in turn fragments and erodes alot of values hence Broken Britain.

Some historians claim that colonialism was a destructive exercise where developing nations were plundered of their natural resources and while basic education and literacy was taught, there was nothing substantial to prepare politicians for leadership roles. This warped mentality of governance bred corruption and a collapse of economic, political and social infrastructure. In search for a better future, the immigration (legal and illegal) of Britain has risen making it a melting pot. Every society has its bad aspects, can you solely blame Broken Britain on immigration influxes especially taking the evils of colonialism into account?

The government seems to be acting against the wishes of the people. The current Labour government headed by Brown is hated nationwide, yet the British people with the right to vote should hold themselves accountable for who they vote in government. On the other hand, alot of developing nations (thanks to corruption and poverty) have no say in who comes in to power and in some cases have no idea of what is happening. The current government is out of touch with the feelings of its electorate, are their bad policies the fault of immigration. Moreover, Broken third world can as mentioned above indirectly trace their problems to Britain so who is really to blame?
