DEBATE: SARAH PALIN EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS AT THE VP DEBATE

Sarah Palin performed brilliantly at the VP debate and exceeded all expectations in her delivery, understanding of the issues and ability to connect with American voters.

SARAH PALIN EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS AT THE VP DEBATE

The bar was pretty low anyway!

In the wake of Sarah Palin’s disastrous performance in her CBS interview with Katie Couric, not to mention Tina Fey’s increasingly popular (and hauntingly accurate) parodies on Saturday Night Live, expectations were set extremely low for the Vice-Presidential debate. The simple fact that Palin managed to make it through the interview without humiliating herself was enough to assure her a judgement of ‘better than expected.’

SARAH PALIN EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS AT THE VP DEBATE

Statistics show this

In a group of selected ‘uncommitted voters’ polled by CBS before and after the debate, 55% reported that their opinion of Palin had improved as a result of her performance in the debate. 15% more voters believed that she shared their values, 23% more that she was knowledgeable on important issues, and those believing she was prepared for the job rose by 16%.(1) The vice-presidential debate only heightened Palin’s appeal to voters.

SARAH PALIN EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS AT THE VP DEBATE

Her down-to-earth approach made her seem inexperienced

The VP debate as noted earlier, increased support(polls don't lie) for Palin.Tina Fey, Former President Bush and Matt Damon(soccer mom hockey mom) mauled her chances of victory(assign blame/credit where it is deserved).

Far from exceeding expectations, Palin merely fulfilled the self-styled portrait of 'hockey-mom', conservative Christian that the Republicans have been painting over the last few weeks. Throughout the debate, she presented herself as an outsider to the whims of Washington politics, feigning ignorance of the ways that career-politicians chop-and-change their minds on key matters like the recent economic bailout. She might have convinced some that she's a down-to-earth mother with a strong set of values, but this debate and the calamitous series of interviews leading up to it exposed her inexperience and lack of qualification for the number-two role in US politics, with a 40% probability of her taking over as president in the next 4 years.
