Spying on people on facebook is good for grades

Or people with good grades spy on people. As with all correlations, treated as causation we're stuck with the Chicken-egg question. Smart people speak only when spoken to. And post a lot of links (related or unrelated to their field)

Yes because... No because...

Quantity and Quality

"All Facebook activities do not have the same relationship with grades. Posting status updates and using Facebook chat generally mean a lower GPA, while checking to see what friends are up to and sharing links suggest a higher GPA. In other words, social Facebook activities were correlated with lower grades and information-related Facebook activities were correlated with higher grades.

This doesn’t necessarily mean forgoing Facebook status updates and chat is likely to improve a student’s grades. Nothing in the study implies cause and effect. Instead, it seems that what’s important about Facebook in an educational context has very little to do with how much time you spend on it."

As with statistical results, this is total bunkum. Statistics do not mean any thing since they almost always play on the trends of a majority in a 'minority' sample. [[http://stats.lse.ac.uk/knott/]]

Spying on people on facebook is good for grades

Yes because... No because...

It only signifies whether someone is self centered or not

I have a 3.8 GPA which I achieved without buying any textbooks last semester. I chat profusely with my friends on facebook. I do admit that I like to post information related stuff as well, but only occasionally as much as I like to chat and joke on people's status updates. In fact, since most people do not give one ounce of crap about what I am interested in, I rarely post information stuff. This means that people who are constantly posting articles and links to intellectual concepts are not smarter, they are just self centered.
