Should School Sport be Voluntary?

Child obesity levels are gradually rising, so should school sport be an option or should it be compulsary? What about those who aren't built for sport and could be focusing on their academic studies in that time? Surely this would be better than them being possibly bullied or suffer froma lack of self-esteem? Tell me if you are the propostion for 'School sport should be made voluntary' or the opposition, and give reasons.

Should School Sport be Voluntary?

Yes because... No because...

School isn't purely for education, it's a whole experience to let you try different things

Health is obviously the most important part of one's life. Although harsh, a certain level of physical fitness is vital for a healthy lifestyle. Children must realise this at a young age.
If sport was voluntary, young children who had never experienced it before would spend all of their time playing computer games and watching films. Their parents may encourage them to take part in some form of sport, so why should'nt schools? The main sports which schools make compulsary are team games. This helps children to work with others and may improve their social life. They may also give pupils leadership experience. These are certainly key skills for later life.
Once people become of a certain age they have the decision to choose if they want to spend time involved in sports, which is fair enough, but children must be taught this early. We can see the obesity levels rising and if sport in schools were made voluntary then this situation would only get worse.

Should School Sport be Voluntary?

Yes because... No because...

It should be compulsory,at their levels.

Sports at schools could take away time from students to not only study for better grades, but persue their interest in the career they want to follow, which would bond them with people of the same interest, creating a stronger social life. Just because they attend the games does not mean they will be an active participant. They could just stand there or sit on the side. No one can physically force this person to move. Previous generations went through many money struggles and did not have such an ease of access to junkier foods which now come in a larger variety with a larger amount of brands. And exercise/ hard work does kill people. Its called over exerting which can lead to heart attacks, also improper postures and ergonomics can make hard work not only kill someone, but create medical issues, and depending on the sport it could lead to bone fractures, broken bones, collapsed ribs ect. (Hockey, Football)

Sports at schools should be compulsory,it teaches a competitive edge which goes a long way in future life. It assists with bonding with classmates in a healthy way instead of what level they are on in some nohope computer game.It keeps them fit instead of resigning to doing nothing except sitting and eating.Ask parents and grandparents how many FAT children were at their schools, very rare, and this was due to excersise and ambition, ambition to look good for maturity.Competition is good. Sitting about gorging and getting lifts everywhere is bad for the body and soul. Excercise and hard work kills no one, laziness does.

Should School Sport be Voluntary?

Yes because... No because...

No let them integrate.

Just because their placed onto a field doesnt mean they'll do anything. If they want to be lazy they will be. injuries can occur if your body is starined and this will stop you playing it.

Let them open up and take part, there is no bullying. There are too many fatties, and that is due to being lazy. Yes I know what I am on about.
