less money should be spent on the olympics and more on the uk’s issues
around £35 billion has been spent on the olympics, what is the uk getting out of it?
less money should be spent on the olympics and more on the uk’s issuesYes because... No because...
Generates lots of revenue
I see what you're saying here but the revenue made by the olympics goes straight into the London economy and some British economy when you buy tickets/merchandise. The question is, however, whether it would be better to have pumped the £35bn into local councils and something that would have a higher short-term benefit to the taxpayers? I think it would be better to do this.
Even though 35 Billion is a lot of money think about all the boosts the economy will get from more people coming to see, more tourists, national new coverage, they are going to make a lot of money out of it.
Whether these things all truly good for a sustainable economy, and not one which is based on temporary influx of chaotically-spent money, remains to be seen however.
