Is it rude to tell/ask people what their/our wage/salary is even anonymously??

If you get a job you want an idea of how much you should be paid and the best way to weigh this in is to ask people with similar or the same position how much they make.
There are websites all over the internet giving av. salary estimates for certain positions at certain companies; but you're only going to get what you are offered unless you have proper grounds for bargaining.
One way to establish a bargaining position is to talk about other job/salary/wage offers; but isn't it necessary to have a good idea of what you 'should' be getting before any rash decisions?

Yes because... No because...

I think that websites with the feature of giving salary estimates for specific positions at specific companies are very useful

They give you an idea of whether you are being offered a lot less than you deserve or if you get more that than the av. estimate ; how valuable the company considers you to have offered that much.-[[http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Skill=Oracle/Salary]]

Yes because... No because...

Workers need to know their worth

If employees never know how much others earn then they will not be able to properly evaluate how much they are worth which distorts the market overly in favour of employers. Workers have their skills to sell and they cannot get what they are worth if they do not have the ability to see what others earn.
