DEBATE: LITERACY TARGETS FOR TODDLERS ARE A WASTE OF TIME.

There is a gender gap between boys and girls even before they enter school. The government is wrong in stating that this must mean more targets. To the rest of us a more sensible approach might be to let children below school age learn at their own pace. Does a gender gap at this stage not matter?

LITERACY TARGETS FOR TODDLERS ARE A WASTE OF TIME.

Just another attempt to even out the odds to favour boys

We as a world, have not stepped/charged ahead of patriarchal male chauvinism.

Earlier

I.Q tests were botched so boys could score at par with girls.

Programming(a woman-invented field, which originally had more female aptitude and appeal) was tailored to men [alpha-male testosterone-catered(violence/guns/risk/war/masculinity) techie/gamer revolution].

And now the government wants to make communication/verbal-skills more boy-friendly 'just' because girls are better at it.

It is just wrong that we continue to do more for the improvement/motivation of boys and shove girls in the pink-sparkle-mother-academically-underachieving-home-maker-dumb-blond-stereotype corner.

Girls have always performed academically better(in all subjects including math/s) than boys before puberty and now the government has a problem with that too.

Counter:

But Mckeller is just 'one' person driving girls to reimburse their meritorious title to be at the top of everything. Whereas entire institutions have and do specifically ameliorate boys' educational competence.

Danica Mae McKellar is only one of the voices trying to make mathematics more girl friendly(even after puberty). Tailoring math to the appeal of the female-sparkly-pink-tacky-mall-hopping-shopping-commercially-driven-barbie-doll-manic stereotype.

Miss.McKeller(Winnie Cooper in 'the wonder years') has coauthored a theorem(As an undergraduate, she coauthored a scientific paper[12] with Professor Lincoln Chayes and fellow student Brandy Winn. Their results are termed the 'Chayes-McKellar-Winn theorem') and has written two books: Math Doesn't Suck: How to Survive Middle-School Math without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail (ISBN 1594630399) &Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who's Boss (ISBN 9781594630491)[1] made just for girls socially driven away from math/s and other technical subjects.

McKellar said that she wrote the book "to show girls that math is accessible and relevant, and even a little glamorous" and to counteract "damaging social messages telling young girls that math and science aren't for them"

LITERACY TARGETS FOR TODDLERS ARE A WASTE OF TIME.

Male authors/writers are much more succesful and make more money than female authors in "ALL" genres excluding romance.

Even if boys lag behind verbally, early on. They come out on top at the age when it matters.

Girls may have an academic head-start but they(generally) slack off when it matters; blaming it on society/whining is not the way to go. A lot of women have shined choosing not to be shackled by gender-stereotyping.

It is the story of the 'tortoise and the hare'

Boys learn the all-important skills of diligence and perseverance. While girls take their natural talent for granted; getting rusty at game time.

Fact is, boys are ultimately academically/verbally stronger(politicians/debaters/public-speakers/P.H.D.s) and this 'early' gap is somewhat irrelevant(perhaps the reason why boys come out the strong in the end).

lagged emotional development is a huge factor in the gap between women and men' lifespan.

Women generally live longer since they are better communicators, more emotionally/socially developed and hormonally trained for cyclical ups and downs.

More men(than women) die of heart-disease/suicide/depression because of (say pre-school) emotional underdevelopment. This problem must be nipped in the bud.

Men also die of fatal-accidents/heinous-crimes significantly more than women do(even though more women are statistically targeted by/than men)

Emotional development for men = longer lifespan, safer streets(fewer testosterone-driven crimes) and a better quality of life for all of us.

LITERACY TARGETS FOR TODDLERS ARE A WASTE OF TIME.

The gender gap widened in three key areas: writing, problem-solving and elements of personal development.

But women/girls/females are trained to 'under-perform' for that purpose(gender-equality) while boys/males/men are helped to perform better:

This is another step along those lines, forcing girls to become less motivated/encouraged underachievers.

Girls have more merit and it is unfair that boys are(and will be) given more attention giving girls more reason to be demotivated in the long run.

If anything, boys and girls should be encouraged to play together on equal terms with no chocolate-powder stereotypes attached.[1]

Boys are socially geared to be irresponsible and rowdy while girls are to be prim, proper and feminine.

If gender equality is to be achieved these stereotypes need be removed. What better way to remove them than making it interesting/fun for both boys and girls to equalize standards?

racial/religious tolerance and secular values taught early on can make magnificient strides toward a better tomorrow

The standards to be implemented by the government/schools are too high. Even adults carry prejudices and cannot tell right from wrong(have different views.perceptions of morality). It is preposterous to expect children to be racially/superficially colour-blind.

Children are taught to make fun of childishness/ugliness/oddness(since grownups around them mock them and other people for these things in their presence; privately), it's considered naughty/forgivable to be outright rude at that age. Children learn these behaviors from those around them but do not draw a line between private and public life.

Nobody wants snotty self-righteous children who constantly stringently judge/correct their parents/caretakers (girls act like cats already;it's disturbing).

Children under the age of five are supposed to be loud/giggly/fun/adorable/rude/rowdy/silly/misbehaved/outspoken to take that away from them is to train them to be 'serious-boring-socially-correct-gray-ashen grownups' with no sense of humor: that is a sad prospect.[1]

People can be fun without being rude/stupid/bigoted/prejudiced, the joke is in realizing that stereotypes are untrue and exaggerated generalizations.

Comedians who jeer at these generalizations are not racist/closed-minded the people who take them seriously are.

Tolerance/acceptance/sensitivity/emotional-maturity should be taught to toddlers who are the grownups of tomorrow to make them well rounded, smart and sociable.
