IS THERE A PLACE FOR A "SOCIALIST TYPE" OF LIVING INSTEAD OF THE CURRENT "CAPITALIST TYPE"?
Capitalism defines the current main type of relationships in the majority of the world, with exception of some minor guettos (like indians, aboriginal people and alternative squats and neighborhoods). Is there willing somewhere and people anxious to change this paradigm?
Is there a place for a "socialist type" of living instead of the current "capitalist type"?
Yes, because... There are lots of people trying to live in a more communal way of living, struggling against individualism.
If you look for the job of people like Paul Hawken (wiserearth.org), Alex Stevens (worldchanging.org), read the books of Bill McKibben (like Deep Economy - The Wealth of Communities and The Durable Future), Jacqueline Novogratz (The Blue Sweater - Bringing the Gap Between the Rich and Poor in an Interconncted World) and István Mészáros (The Challenge and Burden of Historical Time - Socialism in the Twenty-First Century), yes, you can assume that there are lots of people trying to live more like human sencient beings than like automated and massified human "particles".
Love, compassion, sharing, cooperation seems so old-fashioned in the ears of most of us today, but there´s still a profound sentiment that tell us that those akward words mean something truly important, something that could lead us to better times, times where we will struggle less, live more and finally get close of what ancientally we used to call happiness.
The so called "Socialist" leaders mentioned to the right are not even socialist leaders at all. Stalin was a dictator that used communism as a facade along with Mao, while hitler was the only leader that you could call close to socialist but everyone knows that he was the leader of a facist state as well.
Socialism isnt about love compassion sharing cooperation its about what is best for society and your fellow man. Capitilism is a way for the rich to keep the lower classes pinned against eachother in a greed fueled blood lust.
Capitalism is has brought far more benefits than Socialism. If you look at historys socialists like Stalin, Mao and Hitler. They have killed more than 75 million people. Capitalism means freedom. The state can't do anything right so why trust them with something as important as the economy. Why should someone have to work for someone else, when they might not be working at all. Socialism doesn't make eveyone equally well off it makes everyone equally poor. Also socialism destroys private business. Private business creates jobs and salaries for people. Love, compassion, sharing, cooperation is a good idea, but doesn't work if we are forced to do it. Private charity is a much better way of helping the poor. Socialism kills private charity.
The argument opposite says we will struggle less! Even on our farm working our arms and legs off all day to feed people, and having a party member watching our backs the whole time.

Is there a place for a "socialist type" of living instead of the current "capitalist type"?
Yes, because... Most countries(incuding the U.K) proclaim themselves(are self declared) socialist
Europe is presently largely socialist(France, under Sarkozy is attempting to open up to capitalism "Sarkonomics" and post communist former soviet states in Eastern Europe remain socialist)
Post-communist/Nazi countries in general remain 'socialist' Great Britain is socialist( social welfare state)
Even America the great Harbinger/MacDonald-izer/iser-of-the-Globe/poster-child/totem of capitalism is leaning towards socialist economic policies(Greater government regulation, less privatization & greater public/Govt responsibility for social welfare; [for many years: free(public/govt-funded) education, maybe free health now that Obama's health bill has been passed]
Our Zeitgeist calls/hollers for social awareness/responsibility and there is not a single country in the world with no room/capacity/heart for charity/love/kindness especially in the spirit of the current season. There is not a single government that does not provide at least a bit of social welfare, if anything I would turn the motion on its head and say that there is no possibility of the existence and nurturing of perfect free-market capitalism.
People are too risk-averse/cautious, to allow for such a dynamic(No govt safety net) economic model especially under the current climate of tempestuous global calamity.
Point 1. There are lots of people trying to live in a more communal way of living, struggling against individualism.

"Private charity is a much better way of helping the poor."
