To what extent are police biased to less powerful groups of the society

Is police/law enforcement irreversibly corrupt. Are the non-influential/less-powerful/opulent factions of society never going to receive justice? Can we trust the police?
Or should we be fatalistic, not report crimes and take matters in our own hands(perform vigilante justice)?

Are the police/lawyers really as untrustworthy/bad as the stigma that surrounds them?

To what extent are police biased to less powerful groups of the society

Yes because... No because...

The news publicizes cases that do not work out, this produces a negative stigma for the police system

however the majority of cases filed with the police bring out positive results with the victims being happy.

Police shows showing law enforcement officials doing their jobs with complete transparency on T.V are designed to restore confidence in the system.

There are an incredible number of cases where reports weren't filed and abuse/crimes against the victim escalated ; because the victim assumed from messages from the news/films/movies/television-fiction that the police will only make matters worse.

What there is a failure to understand is that when police are corrupt and they are caught they suffer serious repercussions for their misconduct and it is not and can not be the general trend.

The news does not fabricate information. Fiction-Television series are based on reality. To claim that there is such a thing as widespread trustworthy justice when the news and other media is consistently proving you wrong is ...
