Should the moon be bombed?
NASA is going to bomb the moon to tap water sources on the Earth's natural satellite, but faces much ridicule and opposition from the masses who want to save the moon. One thing is clear we need water to survive and earth's resources are diminishing so the moon looks like a good alternative but on the flip-side desecrating the earth in an attempt to tap resources has led to many environmental repercussions, the fact the Earth gets damaged by natural disasters, is no excuse for creating artificial ones and the same logic should apply to the moon which gets regularly hit by meteor showers of similar impact to the planned bombing.

It was awesome and us Earthlings have water shortages to take care of
It could be seen using amateur telescopes and it has happened on Friday.and I iterate:it was awesome. We have long excavated the earth, for natural resources, to fulfill our basic needs, why not the moon?
Bomb the moon, stop world thirst and hunger (since moon water maybe used for irrigation purposes and to drink).
It is a very innovative way of dealing with the present food crisis, a great event in human history and a wonderfully educational experience for nerds and geeks alike.
I can see 'all' the research you put in in writing/typing that one line. Don't you know a sentence begins with a word that starts with a capital letter? :P
Yes it could stop world thirst but how would we get the water to earth.
It is not like we can run a big pipeline to the moon.
And it would be too expensive for NASA to go to the mood back in fourth when ever we need it
There is 6,692,030,277 humans on planet earth.
Transporting water off the moon to Earth or vice versa is impratical but the water/ice can be used by astronauts.
however, if astronauts land near ice deposits( NASA has been planning this ever since the Bush administration ordered a return to the moon) then astronauts can use the water/ice on the moon to drink and cool their spacecrafts. Water(H2O) can also be chemically reduced to hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen can thenbe used to fuel the space-craft and oxygen(O2) can be used to help astronauts breathe.
This, needless to state is exciting stuff:
"Colaprete said it was an exacting process, as scientists worked for weeks to analyze the data sent back by the LCROSS satellite.
"It wasn't an 'Aha!' moment" when they found water, he said. "It's really been a 'Holy Cow' moment every day, as we found out more and more." "- [[http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/nasa-moon-bombing-finds-lunar-water/story?id=9076967]]
Don't we need a whole moon?
The moon has an effect on the tides, on magnetic fields, on the light conditions on Earth. What if we have a serious drop in our resources and need to draw a lot more water from the moon? How much can we bomb the moon before it affects the Earth?
The impact is no greater than the impact to the moon caused regularly by meteor showers.
The moon remains intact.
The long-term effects have yet to surface and can now be discussed here.
THE MOON SHOULD NEVER BE BOMBED I WILL GIVE YOU MORE DETAILS
maybe we should actually plan it!! to do this without planning it as little as we have would be like neil armstrong going up in space without a spacesuit or a tank of oxygen!!
DONT BOMB THE MOON ITS NOT OURS TO BOMB. ITS THERE FOR A REASON...
Done already, they found water on the moon, the mission was successful; yay!
Hooray, now we have somewhere to go when the world ends.
What do you think?
