DOES THE POPE DESERVE A WARM WELCOME TO THE UK NEXT YEAR?
It has being recently announced that the current pope is to visit the uk and ireland some time next year. Both the current prime minster and the leader of the opposition have recieved the news positively.[http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8271556.stm] However are the popes past actions ,his position at the head of the catholic church and his sometimes contraversial (and often influential) views deserving of the congenial reception he will likely recieve next year?
Does the pope deserve a warm welcome to the UK next year?
Yes, because... Catholics in the UK
The Pope is the leader of Roman Catholics around the world and that includes in the UK. Despite being an anglican country we have as many brits attending catholic church regularly on Sunday as attend Anglican services. Although this is mostly due to the numbers of migrants from Eastern European countries such as Poland. Nonetheless their are a total of 4.2 million Catholics in England and Wales[1] who deserve to have the leader of their church welcomed warmly with open arms.

Does the pope deserve a warm welcome to the UK next year?
No, because... The pope is a bigot
The pope has made numerous bigoted statements against homosexuals and has tried to prevent the usage of condoms in areas such as Africa with high levels of HIV. These are bigoted opinions which again prove the church is not a tool for good but a tool for evil.
Point 1. Catholics in the UK
